When you come to Mexico, it is mandatory to try these delicious candies.
They are prepared with the most delicate and original recipes.
The most common ones and easier to find are:

  • Coconut limes (lime’s peel filled up with sweet coconut, also made with other citrics)

  • Cocadas (milk, sugar and coconut)

  • Alfajor (Dry Coconut)

  • Dulce de Leche (milk with sugar and cinnamon)

  • Tarugos (tamarind covered with chili pepper or sugar)

  • Ate (Quince or Guayaba)

  • Alegrias (Amaranth and honey)

  • Palanquetas (Nuts with honey)

  • And many more…


Nowadays, these candies are available in any regular supermarkets, or try the regular markets of the town or city you are visiting.
In Puerto Vallarta they sell them downtown outside the Guadalupe Church.
