Visit Mascota Jalisco, an incredible experience you will never forget.
Take some time while you are in Puerto Vallarta and visit the surrounding villages like Mascota. This little town is two hours driving from the city and it is magical as you are on the way. The road is very quiet, not many cars go that way, it is full of trees, it is all green with a spectacular view of the Sierra Madre.
There are around six hotels on the area, but the one I like the most is called “El meson de San Jose” it is a very quiet place, with a very Mexican style... it has a little patio with its own fountain and also the rooms are really comfortable, clean and everything works perfectly. Something I am sure you will love are the keys, which give you the feeling of being in the Old Mexico. It is located right in down town, so it is perfect for walking.

As you are walking in to town you will see the beautiful church and the famous plaza. They had a mariachi band playing in the evening and everybody would be enjoying of the music and typical “antojitos” (snacks) Everybody walks in circles until finding a place to sit or choose a spot to eat.
There is an old man who sells ice cream made of pure milk mixed with caramel, it is delicious and costs only $2pesos per ball. That is unbelievable!!!
You will find places where they sell tacos made of hand made tortilla, the corn they use in this town to make the tortillas is pure and processed by the local people, so it will really change the flavor we are used to have.

Night life…
Asking around we found a bar where everybody goes to, it is called “La Casa de mi abuela”; it has a restaurant area and on the back side is the bar. There is a Juke box and the service of the staff is pretty good, they are open until 2:00pm, so make sure you get ready for a nice couple of drinks…
There are two different museums that you can not miss. There is one which has all the story of the town, famous people, art and old items and another one which shows that everything can be made out of rocks! Believe it or not…
The last but not least important thing is the cheese!!! In every little store you will be able to find it fresh and ready to go… it has a very natural flavor that will give your palate and incredible sensation of being in Mexico.
Enjoy our culture and do no forget to visit these amazing villages!!
